*Legacy Treasury Direct is a program in which investors buy 13-week and 26-week Treasury bills, directly from the U.S. Treasury, without a broker.
Established in 1986, *Legacy Treasury Direct allows customers to conduct transactions through the Web, over an automated phone system, or by mail.
Electronic Services for Treasury Bills, Notes, and Bonds
In *Legacy Treasury Direct, you can buy 13-week and 26-week bills only and you can reinvest 13- and 26-week bills and 52-week bills into 13- and 26-week bills. You can also perform various account operations, online or through our automated phone system. We call this system Electronic Services for Treasury bills, notes, and bonds.

Payments
- Pay Direct. If you purchase through Electronic Services, you must pay by automatic withdrawal from your designated checking or savings account.
- If you purchase by mail, you can pay either by automatic withdrawal, personal check (unless you're buying a bill), certified personal check, cashier's check, or a check issued to you by a Federal Reserve Bank.

- Treasury Marketable Securities Tender (PD F 5381)
- Security Transfer Request (PDF 5179) transfers securities out of Legacy Treasury Direct or between accounts.

Fees
*Legacy Treasury Direct charges a fee in only one circumstance. If your account holds more than $100,000, we charge an annual fee of $100.
